Straight answers to what we get asked most about eCommerce projects

About BMITZ

What is BMITZ and what does it do?

BMITZ is an eCommerce consultancy founded in Barcelona in 2004, specialized in B2B and B2C online commerce. We help companies sell online: strategy, digitalization of sales and purchasing processes, online store development, integrations with management systems and digital marketing. We have been doing eCommerce exclusively for over 22 years.

Where does BMITZ have offices?

We have offices in Barcelona (Spain), Miami (United States), Bogotá and Medellín (Colombia), Lima (Peru) and Santiago de Chile. We work with clients across Spain — Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Lleida and Madrid — and throughout Latin America.

Do you work with companies outside Spain?

Yes. Besides Spain, we have clients and a local presence in Colombia (Bogotá, Medellín, Cali), Peru, Chile and the United States. International projects are managed by teams in the client’s time zone.

How do we start working together?

The first step is telling us about your project through the contact form (2 minutes). We reply with a free discovery call, and from there we prepare a proposal with scope, timeline and budget. Write to us at www.bmitz.com/en/contact or [email protected].

Services

What services does BMITZ offer?

We offer strategic eCommerce consulting, digitalization of sales and purchasing processes, B2B and B2C online store development, integrations with management systems, custom development, specialized hosting, digital marketing (acquisition, conversion and retention) and AI-powered automation.

Do you build B2B eCommerce (business-to-business)?

Yes, B2B eCommerce is our core specialty: customer portals with per-customer pricing and catalogs, recurring orders, online quotes and ERP integration. We also deliver B2C, B2B2C and D2C projects.

What is B2B2C eCommerce and when does it make sense?

A B2B2C eCommerce combines selling to distributors or businesses (B2B) and to end consumers (B2C) on a single platform, with differentiated pricing, catalogs and experiences per customer type. It makes sense for manufacturers and distributors that want to sell direct to consumers without disrupting their traditional channel.

What does digitalizing sales and purchasing processes mean?

It means replacing manual processes (phone or email orders, price lists in Excel, PDF catalogs) with digital flows connected to your systems: order portals, online catalogs, automated quoting and ERP synchronization. The result is fewer errors, less admin time and customers who self-serve 24/7.

Do you provide consulting and digital audits?

Yes. We audit your current eCommerce (technology, UX, SEO, conversion, processes) and define your digital and omnichannel strategy: which platform to use, what to integrate, where to invest first and with what expected return. Consulting can be contracted on its own or as the first phase of a development project.

Do you offer eCommerce hosting?

Yes, we offer hosting specialized in eCommerce: servers optimized for Magento, PrestaShop and other platforms, with monitoring, backups and support. Generic hosting usually falls short once a store starts growing.

Do you do digital marketing for eCommerce?

Yes, we cover the full cycle: acquisition (SEO, advertising), conversion (CRO, checkout optimization) and retention (email marketing, automations). Always with measurement: every action is evaluated by the leads or sales it generates.

Do you work with artificial intelligence?

Yes. We apply AI to eCommerce process automation: catalog enrichment, customer service, product content generation and data analysis. We also offer AI consulting to identify where it delivers real return in your operation.

What integrations can you build?

We integrate online stores with ERP (SAP, Microsoft Navision/Business Central, Holded), PIM and catalog managers, CRM, marketplaces (Amazon, Zalando), payment platforms and logistics carriers. Integration with management systems is where B2B projects gain the most value, and we have been doing it since 2004.

Do you build custom functionality?

Yes. When the platform doesn’t cover a business need — a product configurator, an order approval flow, complex pricing logic — we build it as custom development on top of the platform, keeping the core upgradeable.

Do you provide support and maintenance after launch?

Yes. We offer ongoing support and maintenance plans: security updates, platform patches, feature evolutions, monitoring and incident resolution. Most of our clients work with us continuously, not just during the project.

Technologies and platforms

Which eCommerce platforms do you work with?

We specialize in Magento (Adobe Commerce), PrestaShop, Shopware and Shopify, and also work with VTEX, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce and SAP Commerce. If you don’t have a platform yet, we analyze your case and recommend the best fit — we are not tied to any single vendor.

Are you Magento / Adobe Commerce specialists?

Yes, Magento is the platform we have worked with the longest: development, migrations to Magento 2, version upgrades, performance optimization and complex B2B projects. We are a Magento partner and a partner of Hyvä, the modern high-performance frontend for Magento.

Do you work with PrestaShop?

Yes, we have been building and maintaining PrestaShop stores for over a decade: custom modules, integrations, version upgrades (for example from PrestaShop 1.6 to 1.7 and beyond) and migrations from or to other platforms.

And with Shopify or Shopify Plus?

Yes. Shopify is a great option when speed to launch and low maintenance costs matter most, and Shopify Plus suits high-volume brands. We build custom themes, private apps and integrations with ERP and logistics.

Do you work with Shopware?

Yes, we are Shopware specialists — a very solid European platform for B2B and B2C that combines open-source flexibility with a modern admin experience. We deliver new implementations and migrations from Magento or PrestaShop.

Which platform do you recommend for my store?

It depends on your business model, catalog, integrations and budget. As general guidance: Shopify to launch fast with simple catalogs; PrestaShop and WooCommerce for SMBs with tight budgets; Magento/Adobe Commerce and Shopware for B2B, large catalogs or complex business logic; VTEX or Salesforce for enterprise accounts. In the first call we analyze your case and justify the recommendation.

Projects, migrations and costs

How much does a professional online store cost?

It depends on four factors: the platform, the size and complexity of the catalog, the integrations required (ERP, PIM, CRM, logistics) and custom functionality. A simple B2C project costs far less than a B2B portal integrated with SAP. That is why we don’t publish fixed prices: we analyze each case and deliver a detailed, no-obligation quote within days.

How long does it take to launch an eCommerce?

A typical project launches within 3 to 6 months from kick-off, depending on scope: a standard B2C store can be live sooner, and a B2B project with multiple integrations may need more. We work in phases with intermediate deliveries, so the business sees progress from the first weeks.

Do you migrate between platforms?

Yes. We migrate stores between platforms while preserving SEO rankings, catalog, customers and order history: from Magento 1 to Magento 2, from Magento to PrestaShop or Shopware, from PrestaShop to Magento, and version upgrades.

Will I lose SEO when migrating platforms?

No, if the migration is done properly. The keys are mapping every old URL with 301 redirects to its new equivalent, preserving the metadata and content that ranks, and monitoring Search Console after launch. It is a standard part of our migrations — a migration without an SEO plan can indeed cost a lot of traffic.

I am still on Magento 1 or an old version — what should I do?

Magento 1 has had no support or security patches since 2020, so migrating is urgent. The two usual routes are upgrading to Magento 2 (preserving your platform investment) or using the move to switch to Shopware, PrestaShop or Shopify if they fit better. We assess your store and recommend the route with the lowest total cost.
